European Christmas Markets   Discover Europe's Christmas Markets, where the town center, market square or just the narrow, cobblestone streets of the cities and towns of Europe come alive in winter with festively decorated wooden stalls offering all sorts of treats and delights. Travel through Germany, France and Switzerland and visit cities and towns and learn of their history, see their major sights, and visit their charming markets. The Kingston Trio provides special folk arrangements of traditional Christmas carols to add to the magic and enchantment.G

Katie Brown Workshop  "Gifts Galore"  Katie shows why it is better (and more fun) to give than to receive with creative and easy ideas for designer breadsticks and irresistible pretzels, and projects like dressed-up store-bought gifts and a gift box topiary. D

Burt Wolf: Travels & Traditions  "Christmas In Vienna, Austria"  Christmas is observed in cities throughout the world, but the festivities in the Austrian city of Vienna are unique. Burt joins the celebration, explains the ancient history and meaning of Christmas, tours Vienna's famous Christmas markets, and discovers why we have Christmas trees. He takes us inside the magnificent castle of the Habsburg family and unravels the story of how they became the most powerful rulers in Europe by using their marriages instead of their military. D

Rachel's Favorite Food at Home  "Edible Gifts"  For holidays and birthdays, Rachel likes to give away homemade jams, chutneys and sweets as presents. America's Test Kitchen from Cook's Illustrated  "Fall Classics"  Test cook Julia Collin Davison shows host Christopher Kimball how to make the ultimate Pot-Roasted Pork Loin. Chris then discusses the differences between baking soda and baking powder with science expert Guy Crosby. Next, tasting expert Jack Bishop challenges Chris to a tasting of pork. D

Simply Ming  "Star Anise & Oranges"  Guest Chef: Patricia Yeo. Star Anise, the fragrant Chinese spice, and Oranges, one of the most widely consumed fruits in the US, is an aromatic East-West ingredient pairing that proves to be very versatile. Ming prepares "All-In-One" Braised Short Ribs with Root Vegetables and Orange Roasted Squab with Star Anise Orange Syrup. D

Joanne Weir's Cooking Confidence  "Rustic Yet Refined"  Joanne makes us a classic Italian frico and then with her student Stephanie demonstrates how rustic and refined can work well together in the same meal, making a spiced lentil and herb salad and halibut wrapped in prosciutto. Recipes: Frico with Bacon and Potatoes, Prosciutto di San Daniele-Wrapped Halibut Fillet, and Spiced Lentils and Herb Salad. Student: Stephanie Gerbracht, Wine Sales. D

Rick Steves' Europe  "Poland Rediscovered: Krakow, Auschwitz and Warsaw"  Rick finds Poland transforming itself into the new heart of Europe, and Krakow, with its Baroque and cobbled charm, emerging as the "next Prague." Rick visits nearby Auschwitz and experiences a timeless, soul-searching lesson.G
