Paving The Way: The National Park-To-Park Highway  "See America First"  A 5,000-mile barely-paved loop connects 11 crown jewels of the young National Parks system in 1920. Starting from Denver, this film follows in the tire tracks of the intrepid travelers as they explored Rocky Mountain, Yellowstone, Glacier, Mt. Rainier, Crater Lake and Lassen Volcanic national parks. Bill Painter narrates this special that includes photographs from the original tour. Part 1 of 2G

12:00 pm
Outdoor Idaho  "Working for Wildlife"  Professionals and volunteers are in forests and fields - even cities - throughout Idaho working to increase knowledge about wildlife and its chances for survival. Cameras capture "deer tackling" in eastern Idaho; follow scientists and volunteers through deep snows to radio collar the seldom-seen elusive wolverine; and visit a woman raising orphan bears in her backyard in Garden City, adjacent to Boise.G

12:30 pm
Undamming The Elwha   The KCTS9/EarthFix documentary tells the story of the Elhwa River, once dammed, now set free, following the determination that two 100-year-old dams were failing. The film includes historical photos and footage as well as interviews with those involved in the construction, operation and removal of the lower dam, the largest dam ever to be removed in the United States. Some of the footage used in the film is supplied by IdahoPTV and EarthFix Idaho reporter Aaron Kunz.G

1:00 pm
Blue Ridge Parkway: A Long & Winding Road   THE BLUE RIDGE PARKWAY: A LONG & WINDING ROAD is a historical documentary concerning the most visited segment of the National Park Service. It explores the impact on people along the route and the conflicts inherent in building the 469-mile Parkway. The documentary also makes public, for the first time, a secret deal between FDR and a powerful congressman that was a stunning New Deal political tradeoff. D
