NOVA scienceNOW  "Can We Make It to Mars?"  Astrophysicist, author and director of New York's Hayden Planetarium Neil deGrasse Tyson returns as host for this science magazine series. The opening episode looks at whether humans can reach Mars alive, traveling two to three years while facing deadly conditions. The show also looks at innovations for keeping space travelers alive.G

Rick Steves' Europe  "Edinburgh"  Edinburgh is the historical and cultural heart of Scotland. We'll explore the castle, peek at the new parliament, dabble in the local literature, sip a little Scotch, get wrapped up in a kilt, and then stowaway on Her Majesty's yacht Britannia.G

Smart Travels - Europe with Rudy Maxa  "Berlin"  Rudy leads the way through world-class cultural sites to feel the city's past and see the future. Then it is off to shop at KaDeWe department store.G

The Desert Speaks  "Tracks in the Shifting Sand"  Explore one of the largest dune fields in North America at the Imperial Sand Dunes National Recreation Area. The Algodones Dunes in Southern California stretch across more than two hundred square miles and are visited by more than 1.4 million people each year, most of whom use some sort of off-road vehicle. A state highway splits the northern part of the dune field between wilderness and recreational area, but the task of monitoring the usage creates problems of its own. D

Later that day, Mary Ann puts University President Mark Huddleston to work on the demonstration stage to prepare a savory, filling dish of Farro with Sausage and MushrooMs. Then his wife, Emma Bricker joins in for Whole Wheat Spaghetti with Roasted Vegetables. Taste of History  "Surgery and Soda Pop"  Dr. Philip Syng Physick is considered the father of American Surgery. His string of innovations include using cat gut for sutures and inventing the tool still used today for performing tonsillectomies! But Dr. Physick also came up with the idea of flavoring carbonated water, something we now call soda pop! In this episode, we tour Physick House, and Chef Staib prepares Smoked Brook Trout on Potato Pancakes, Coq au Vin Chicken , and Brussel Sprouts in honor of the Doctor. D

Austin City Limits  "The Head and the Heart/Gomez"  From Seattle, Washington, the Head and the Heart indie rock group performs tunes from its self-titled debut album. Then British veterans Gomez follow with eclectic modern rock.G

Sesame Street  "The Rainbow Show"  Elmo is drawing when he looks up in the sky and sees a rainbow! Wow! Elmo rushes to show everybody, but when Rosita arrives, the rainbow has disappeared. Elmo asks Leela if there is something he can do to bring the rainbow back. Leela offers to draw a picture of a rainbow. D

Dinosaur Train  "Dinos A to Z, Part 1, The Big Idea/Dinos A to Z, Part 2, Spread The Word"  While riding the Dinosaur Train with Buddy and Mom, Tiny gets the idea to gather all the dinosaurs in the `Dinosaurs A to Z' song for a picnic at Troodon Town. The Conductor agrees, and the Train starts picking up dinosaurs, as Tiny and Buddy help keep track of how many of the different species have come on board, and where they are on the dinosaur A to Z list. The Dinosaur Train continues traveling around the Mesozoic picking up more and more dinosaurs that are in the `Dinosaurs A to Z' song, on the way to a picnic at Troodon Town. D

Super Why!  "Little Bo Peep"  Where's Mister Lizard? Whyatt is searching and searching and doesn't know where to find him! Once again, it's the Super Readers to the rescue when they meet Little Bo Peep, who is hot on the trail of her missing sheep. The Super Readers aren't satisfied with leaving them alone until they come home, and spring into action! Educational Objectives: To learn about solving a mystery! Fun, interactive activities show preschoolers how to build the alphabet, rhyme with OG words and use the power to read to change the story. D

Cat in the Hat Knows A Lot About That!  "Pick Your Friends/ Finola's Farm"  Pick Your Friends - It's Valentine's Day and Nick and Sally disagree hotly on how to decorate the card they're making for the Cat. Does this mean they aren't really best friends? The Cat takes them to meet Sheldon, a tortoise who knows all about friendship. They learn that Sheldon's best friend is completely different from him and that being best friends doesn't mean you always have to agree. D

Wild Kratts  "Cheetah Racer"  Chris and Martin announce that no creature or vehicle can travel as fast over the rough and tumble African savannah as the cheetah. Aviva takes the challenge and declares she will build a ground racer that can run even faster than a cheetah. Of course Zach wants to prove that he is a better inventor than Aviva and joins the race. D

Sara's Weeknight Meals  "Holiday Food Gifts"  A thoughtful gift you make yourself speaks volumes, and food is the present everyone loves! Sara releases your creative spirit by teaching how to make Homemade Marshmallows with a Hot Chocolate Mix. For the wine enthusiast, her Homemade Cheese Crackers pair beautifully with some cheese and wine. Peppermint Bark looks very expensive but couldn't be easier to make. D

Rick Steves' Europe  "Italy's Great Hill Towns"  Rick finds Italy's quintessential charms in the classic hill towns. He travels from San Gimignano's medieval towers to Cortona's charming lanes, to Orvieto's history of papal intrigue and Civita di Bagnoregio's cliff-hanging vistas.G
