Science Trek, hosted by Joan Cartan-Hansen and produced by Idaho Public Television, focuses on a variety of science-related topics. In addition to the television broadcast, Science Trek includes a substantial website with more teacher-vetted, standards-based educational content on each topic.

"Trees"
The oldest living thing on Earth is a tree. It is also the heaviest and the tallest. Trees keep our air clean, reduce noise pollution, improve water quality, help prevent erosion, create shade, provide food, building materials, homes for wildlife, and make our world beautiful. Joan Cartan-Hansen and her guests Brian Jorgenson, City of Boise Forester, and Michelle Youngquist, Educational Coordinator, Idaho Forest Products Commission, answer students' questions about trees.
