Nuclear Waste

After a long series of negotiations Idaho Governor Phil Batt has made an agreement with the Department of the Navy concerning nuclear waste storage. Some of the terms of the agreement include: Idaho will allow 110 metric tons of waste (approximately 20 shipments a year), in return the Department of Energy will remove all transuranic waste and spent fuel. The Department of Energy also agreed to build a mixed waste treatment facility in Idaho and to ask Congress for $262 million dollars for the Idaho National Laboratory. Marcia Franklin and her guests discuss the agreement and what it means for Idaho's future.
