Management of the Sawtooth National Recreation Area

Created in 1972, the Sawtooth National Recreation Area plays host to more than 1.5 million visitors a year. Up until 1997, visitors were able to visit the recreation area for free; however, due to a lack of funding the Forest Service recently instituted recreation fees. Marcia Franklin and her guests discuss the challenges facing the Sawtooth National Recreation Area and what steps are being taken to preserve the area for future generations.
