The Idaho National Laboratory is one of the state's largest employers. Its scientists are researching everything from biofuels to hybrid vehicles to new battery technology. Still, the INL is best known for its research on nuclear energy. With the Obama administration offering $8.33 billion in loan guarantees to jumpstart the nuclear power industry, the INL is arguably on the threshold of a new period of growth.
