Fons & Porter's Love of Quilting  "Periwinkles In Bloom"  National Sewing Educator Pam Mahshie demonstrates to Marianne how to how to make heirloom pieces for a baby quilt using a serger. Pam shows Marianne how to construct giant fabric rick-rack with a special tool. D

Hometime  "Exterior Harmony: Siding"  The new landscape bridge is ready for railings and a beautiful set of steps as the new home gets a complete system of siding, soffits, fascia and trim. D

Woodsmith Shop  "Sawhorse Roundup"  Every shop needs a good pair of sawhorses. The Woodsmith editors present a couple of their favorites. They'll start with a traditional heavy-duty, trestle design with mortise and tenon joinery. Then, it's on to an all new stacking-style that locks together with tabs and notches.G

This Old House  "Essex 2012/13, A Cottage in the Wood"  Kevin and Norm tour scenic Essex, Massachusetts, and roll up to the new project: a 1935 English-style cottage in the woods that homeowners John and Julie Corcoran hope to turn into an accessible in-law residence for aging parents. Architect Sally DeGan and Tom use a 3-D model to preview the plan for aging in place, and work begins. D

4:00 pm 
Ask This Old House  "Hanging a Flat Panel TV/Controlling Insects Without Pesticides"  Master electrician Scott Caron helps a homeowner hang a flat panel television on the wall and conceal all the wiring. Back in the workshop, Scott shows host Kevin O'Connor examples of different types of electrical outlets. Then, Kevin, along with landscape contractor Roger Cook, plumbing and heating expert Richard Trethewey and general contractor Tom Silva, asks, "What Is It?" Afterward, Roger heads to Miami to help a homeowner control the insect pests in her yard without the use of pesticides. D

P. Allen Smith's Garden Home  "The Rose Show"  At the Southampton Rose Society, Allen visits with a rosarian. He also drops in on the Madoo Conservancy to talk with Robert Dash about his amazing roses.G

Moyers & Company  "Fighting The Filibuster"  President Obama's second inauguration will be a day of celebration, but whether or not he accomplishes his second-term goals depends on what happens the next day -- Tuesday, January 22 -- on Capitol Hill. Once "the world's most deliberative body", the Senate has become a graveyard of democracy where, says Bill Moyers, "grown men and women are zombified in a process no respectable witch doctor would emulate for fear of a malpractice suit. New Tricks  "Father's Pride"  A camera and film belonging to a photographic lab assistant murdered in 1987 are discovered in the toilets of a Soho pub. Two images stand out and the team seeks a connection. Gerry's daughter joins the team to help the investigation.G

The Abolitionists: American Experience  "The Abolitionists, Part Two"  Douglass escapes slavery, eventually joining Garrison in the anti-slavery movement. Threatened with capture by his former owner, Douglass flees to England, returning to the U.S. in 1847. D
