Learn about thermostats that program themselves and Ipe deck tiles that go right over an old deck. D

Ask This Old House  "Installing A Ceiling Fan/Installing A Water Softener"  Host Kevin O'Connor and electrician Scott Caron head to Denver to install a ceiling fan on a cathedral ceiling. Then, Kevin, along with general contractor Tom Silva, plumbing and heating expert Richard Trethewey and landscape contractor Roger Cook, asks, "What is it?" Afterward, Richard visits New Jersey to install a water softener. D

Oregon Field Guide  "Crossing The Urban-Rural Divide"  Follow a group of students from the city as they share in both the joy and misery that comes with farm life. Grant County ranchers began the Urban-Rural exchange in 2005.G

Christmas at Luther: Tidings of Comfort and Joy   Holiday music, 500 choristers, a symphony orchestra, thousands in the audience and glowing candlelight capture the wonder and joy of the season at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. The college's internationally-acclaimed musicians mark 32 years of sharing the seasonal gift of music in their annual Christmas concert.G

New Tricks  "Ducking & Diving"  A ransacked armored security van is found at the bottom of a lake. The van is linked to a man who disappeared 17 years ago, coinciding with the murder of Marie Sinclair. Chief suspect and former owner of the security firm, Marie's husband maintains his innocence. The team sets out to learn the truth.G
