Angelina Grimk?, the daughter of a Charleston plantation family, moves north to become a public speaker. Frederick Douglass, a young slave, becomes hopeful when he hears of the movement. William Lloyd Garrison establishes the newspaper The Liberator. Harriet Beecher Stowe travels in the South, which changes her life and writing. John Brown devotes his life to the cause.G
