Brains On Trial with Alan Alda  "Determining Guilt"  A fictional case of an 18-year-old on trial for attempted murder when a convenience store robbery goes wrong is used to gain insight into how developments in neuroscience could assist the criminal justice system. U.S. District Judge Jed S. Rakoff, who would preside over such a case, has a longstanding interest in neuroscience and its conceivable effect on criminal law. Part 1 of 2G

NOVA  "Ground Zero Supertower"  NOVA examines the new skyscraper rising up 104 stories from the site where the Twin Towers once stood. This update of "Engineering Ground Zero," goes inside the construction of the tower's final floors and the installation of its 800-ton spire and beacon. The show also goes underground to inspect the multi-billion dollar transit center with its sweeping design.G

Curiosity Quest Goes Green  "Light Bulb Recycling"  Did you know that light bulbs can be recycled and made into new products? Join the host of Curiosity Quest Goes Green, Joel Greene as he explores the Lighting Resources facility in Texas to learn how they collect old light bulbs. Then they dump them all into an incredible machine that breaks them apart, safely collects the mercury, chops, cleans, and separates them. Lastly, Greene follows the crushed light bulb remnants to a Glass Recycled in Texas to watch the process of mixing the recycled light bulbs in with recycled glass to create gorgeous counter tops and flooring. D

Beneath The Surface: An Earthfix Special   This documentary looks at the unseen dangers and their impacts on the Northwest's fisheries, marine life and tribal communities. Topics include a look at toxic storm water runoff that flows into Puget Sound, how "ocean acidification" is adversely affecting Washington state's shellfish industry, and how Native American tribes are addressing depleted wild salmon runs.G

Scientific American Frontiers  "Alien Invasion"  This program explores the impact that invasive species and viruses have on environmental and human health around the world. Increasingly, foreign animal and plant species jump national and international boundaries and wreak havoc on ecosystems that offer no natural resistance or predators to the unwelcome guests. Alda looks at some of the most egregious aliens and what's being done to control them. D
