In this episode, ecologist Jim Cornett joins host David Yetman for a look around California's Coachella Valley, the lowest and hottest inhabited place in the Northern Hemisphere. After a walk around Palm Springs to examine the area's most famous residents, Yetman heads for the largest undisturbed palm oasis on Earth, Palm Canyon. D

After a trip to Scotland to meet the official fish-and-chips champions, he prepares a smoked version of the dish. D

Dinosaur Train  "Dinos A to Z, Part 3, Classification/Dinos A to Z, Part 4, A To Z Picnic"  The Pteranodon family rides the Dinosaur Train - now with extra cars attached -- as it continues picking up more dinosaurs that are in the `Dinosaurs A to Z' song. The Pteranodon family reunites with some dinosaurs they've met before, and are introduced to species they've never met! The Pteranodon kids also learn about classification, and Don leads the way organizing the dinosaurs on the Train by their species, features, and size. The Pteranodon family is on the Dinosaur Train, now very crowded with all 26 dinosaurs mentioned in the `Dinosaurs A to Z' song. D

Super Why!  "Molly's Dance Show"  The curtain rises on Princess Pea's dance recital but she's too scared to come out of the wings! Super Why and his friends head into the story Molly's Dance Show to meet a ballerina doll with similar stage fright. When Molly's dreams of performing come true, thanks to a fairy princess and some magic slippers, Princess Presto wonders what it will take for her to have confidence, too. Educational Objectives: To learn about self-confidence. D

Cat in the Hat Knows A Lot About That!  "The Surprising Bean/Hear Here"  The Surprising Bean - Nick keeps trying to surprise Sally, but he just can't do it! The Cat takes them to find a real surprise in the Skippylarito Fields! Once there, Cat shows them a special bean - that suddenly moves! With a shrunken Thingamajigger, they go inside the bean and meet the moth larvae that lives there. They learn that it's really the moth that causes the bean to move. What a neat surprise indeed! Hear Here - The kids hear chirping but can't find where it's coming from. D

Outdoor Idaho  "Idaho's Salmon"  The once abundant salmon runs into the heart of Idaho disappeared. Since then efforts have concentrated on maintaining their genetic lines. OUTDOOR IDAHO explores the causes for the decline, what is being done to save the fish, and what the salmon mean to native cultures. Underwater cameras capture sockeye salmon returning to Redfish Lake.G

Bluegrass Underground  "The Vespers"  Absolutely one of "alternative Nashville's" biggest buzz bands, the Vespers feature sisters Callie and Phoebe Cryar and brothers Bruno and Taylor Jones. Their hard-to-pin-down sound leads to a fresh and dynamic mixture of folk, rock and Appalachian stomp, a place where banjos battle drums and fuzz-toned guitars shred mountain ballads, all held together by the Cryar sisters' saintly/sinful harmonies. Music Voyager  "Israel: Songs from the Holy Land"  Music Voyager host Jacob Edgar travels to Jerusalem and northern Israel to discover the sights and sounds of a region rich with ancient history and religious significance. Israel is a land of contrasts and conflicts: between tradition and modernity, war and peace, spirituality and secularism. The popular band Hadag Nahash blends hip-hop, funk and soul with politically expedient Hebrew lyrics to draw attention to the complex issues facing Israeli society. D
