Guided by the 22 year-old former president of the Oxford Union, they direct their immense curiosity and ambition towards mastering the arcane strategies of British parliamentary debate. They are determined to show they are not closed-minded extremists -- and even more determined to win. D

God In America  "A New Adam/A New Eden"  The miniseries begins with the origins of America's unique religious landscape and how the New World challenged and changed faiths brought from Europe. New Mexico's Pueblo Indians collide with the Catholic faith of the Spanish Franciscans. Puritan leader John Winthrop faces religious dissenters. Evangelical preacher George Whitfield and others sweep through the colonies. Then, following the American Revolution, evangelical Baptists and enlightenment figures like Thomas Jefferson forge a new concept of religious freedom and the film looks at its impact as the nation pushes westward. Independent Lens  "A Village Called Versailles"  In a New Orleans neighborhood called Versailles, a tight-knit group of Vietnamese Americans overcame obstacles to rebuild after Hurricane Katrina, only to have their homes threatened by a new government-imposed toxic landfill. This film chronicles how the Versailles people turn a disaster into a catalyst for change and a chance for a better future.G

Independent Lens  "Welcome to Shelbyville"  In the heart of America's Bible Belt, a small Southern town grapples with rapid demographic change and issues of immigrant integration. The film documents how people of the town, whether African American or white, deal with Latino and Somali newcomers as their lives intertwine against the backdrop of a crumbling economy and the national election of a new president.G

Global Voices  "Iranian Kidney Bargain Sale"  In Iran, there is a thriving trade in kidneys, which poor people line up to sell at less than $3,000. With an official kidney referral agency as the backdrop, Iranian Kidney Bargain Sale follows young Iranians through the organ trade process: from their first encounter to surgery and kidney removal. Iran is the only country in the world where kidney trading is legal. D

Outdoor Idaho  "Writers at Harriman"  Thirty-five teens from throughout Idaho gather at Harriman State Park in eastern Idaho for the six-day Writers at Harriman camp experience. In the tranquil setting surrounded by wildlife the students attend class with expert teachers and write.G

Dialogue  "Colum McCann"  Marcia Franklin talks with Colum McCann, author of Let the Great World Spin. The book, which has been called the "first great 9/11 novel," won the 2009 National Book Award for fiction, and was Amazon.com's 2009 Book of the Year. The interview is part of Dialogue's ongoing "Conversations from the Sun Valley Writers' Conference" and was taped at the 2011 conference.G
