Elmo and Abby must find an amphibian before the game show's tadpole turns into a frog. They don't know what an amphibian is, but the announcer gives them a clue- an animal that starts out living in water. D

Sid The Science Kid  "Slide to the Side!"  Sid is trying out his new dance called "The Sid Slide To The Side!" On his room's hardwood floor, he boogies to the left, jumps to the right and then tries to slide to the side. But in his new sneakers, he can't slide.he just squeaks to a stop! Sid and his friends investigate how different materials and surfaces can create friction, causing something to slow down. D

Smart Travels - Pacific Rim With Rudy Maxa  "Maui and Hawaii's Big Island"  The cultures of the Pacific converge on the breathtaking islands of Hawaii. This trip Rudy begins on Maui, where he braves the twisting road to Hana with its cascading waterfalls and tropical splendor. Fire-knife dancers light up the night sky, and we sway to the rhythms of hula and slack-key guitar. D

The Desert Speaks  "Wyoming's Red Desert"  Host David Yetman hops into a 50-year-old BMW motorcycle sidecar to explore Wyoming's mysterious Red Desert, one of the least known and most threatened deserts in North America. Also called the "Great American Desert," this eight-million-acre area has vast and varying landscapes including the largest active sand dune system in North America and the Great Divide Basin - the only place in the United States where the Continental Divide splits before rejoining. It is also steeped in history and fable, with ties to the Oregon Trail and the gold rush, as well as its share of ghost towns. D

Sesame Street  "Frankly It's A Habitat"  Big Bird is eating a hot bowl of soup on a cold day outside Hooper's store. Freddy Flapman, from Flychert Real Estate finds Big Bird and tries to convince him to migrate somewhere warm. Freddy Flapman tells him that he might like living in a new habitat. D

Dinosaur Train  "Don's Winter Wish/Festival of Lights"  When the Pteranodon family travels back to the North Pole, Don declares that it's his "winter wish" to see snow fall again. When a big blizzard comes, and even the Dinosaur Train gets snowed in, Don worries that his wish brought the blizzard. He's especially worried for his new friend, Soren Sauronitholestes, who is sitting on a nest of her eggs, out in the blizzard. D

Super Why!  "The Elves and the Shoemaker"  Whyatt has a secret admirer! The Super Readers visit the Elves and the Shoemaker and discover that the Shoemaker is just as curious about his own secret friends! The Super Readers help the Shoemaker write a note of his own, and Whyatt uncovers his mysterious admirer. Educational Objectives: To learn about making friends, explore the alphabet and rhyme with UN words. Kids will find that the power to read can change the story. D

Cat in the Hat Knows A Lot About That!  "Blue Feet Are Neat/A Little Reef Magic"  Blue Feet Are Neat - Nick and Sally are trying out their new blue rubber boots but they keep getting stuck in the mud! Cat knows just who can help them - Buster, the Blue-footed Booby bird. Buster is only too happy to show them how his wide, flat blue feet help him move easily over the muddy shore. With Cat's help to make their boots wide and flat, Sally and Nick can now walk across the mud without getting stuck - just like Buster! Reef Magic - Nick has difficulty learning a "disappearing" magic trick, when who should appear but The Cat in the Hat! He takes Nick and Sally to the coral reef of Scoobamareen. D

Wild Kratts  "Build It Beaver"  The Wild Kratts team must lend a hand to help a beaver rebuild its damaged lodge and restore the ecosystem for all the creatures who live there. Science Concepts: Beavers make dams that block the flow of water down a stream. Through building dams, the beaver single-handedly transforms the landscape, creating homes for a variety of wildlife. Dialogue for Kids  "Flight"  How do planes stay up in the air? We have to overcome four physical forces to fly, so do birds and bugs and anything else that wants to soar. So, what are those forces? Why does the shape of a wing make a difference in flight? Why are birds especially built for flight? Joan Cartan-Hansen and her guests, Frank Lester, education coordinator for the aeronautics division of the Idaho Transportation Department and Pilot Lori MacNichol answer questions about flight.G

Dialogue  "Colum McCann"  Marcia Franklin talks with Colum McCann, author of Let the Great World Spin. The book, which has been called the "first great 9/11 novel," won the 2009 National Book Award for fiction, and was Amazon.com's 2009 Book of the Year. The interview is part of Dialogue's ongoing "Conversations from the Sun Valley Writers' Conference" and was taped at the 2011 conference.G

The Desert Speaks  "Sonora's Forgotten River"  Life along the Rio San Miguel has remained relatively unchanged for the last 300 years. David Yetman and Mexican ecologist Alberto Burquez trace the river through Sonora, Mexico, to see how life has adapted to its unpredictable flow. The trip begins in Magdalena de Kino, with a stop at Father Kino's monument, before heading south to the city of Cucurpe. D

Outdoor Idaho  "Writers at Harriman"  Thirty-five teens from throughout Idaho gather at Harriman State Park in eastern Idaho for the six-day Writers at Harriman camp experience. In the tranquil setting surrounded by wildlife the students attend class with expert teachers and write.G
