This Old House  "Bedford Project, Part 11 of 16"  Landscape contractor Roger Cook installs a 3,000-pound slab of reclaimed granite for the front step. Meanwhile, general contractor Tom Silva installs new wood windows in the addition that come with exterior trim already attached and finished in the factory. In the next town over, in Concord, Massachusetts, master carpenter Norm Abram stops in to see the progress on the period restoration of the Colonel James Barrett house, a little known house that played a big role in the American Revolution. D

4:00 pm 
Ask This Old House  "Installing A Front Porch Light; Splitting Firewood"  Host Kevin O'Connor works with an electrician in Atlanta to install a front porch light. Then Kevin, along with general contractor Tom Silva, landscape contractor Roger Cook and plumbing and heating expert Richard Trethewey, asks, "What Is It?" Afterward, Roger shares with Kevin a tip for efficiently splitting firewood. And Richard helps a homeowner who has hot water coming from his cold water faucet. D

Growing a Greener World  "The Best Places of Season One"  While taping 26 episodes for our first season, we traveled to 18 states and 28 cities. We were granted access to some of the hottest places in horticulture. All visits were special, but these stand out as a few of the best. D

P. Allen Smith's Garden Home  "Texture, Pattern and Rhythm"  Smith demonstrates the three design elements throughout his garden. He also offers tips on taking care of espalier fruit trees.G

Dialogue  "Kati Marton: Conversations from the Sun Valley Writers' Conference"  Marcia Franklin talks with author and former journalist Kati Marton. During the interview, taped at the 2011 Sun Valley Writers' Conference, Franklin talks with Marton about her experience researching her most recent work, Enemies of the People. The book chronicles Marton's search to learn more about her parents, who were imprisoned by the Hungarian government during the Cold War for their work as reporters for American news outlets.G

Curious George: A Very Monkey Christmas   George and The Man in the Yellow Hat are preparing for Christmas but each has no idea what to give the other for a present. They follow each other around town, hoping to discover a clue. They enlist the help of Hudley, the Pisghettis, Gnocchi, Bill, Betsy Steven and even Professor Wiseman. Three original songs are introduced along with other classic holiday music.G

Outdoor Idaho  "Xtreme Sports"  Idahoans take to the outdoors in extreme ways, pushing their limits and seeking new experiences. They leap from bridges, bicycle unusually tough courses, climb rocks, kayak on snow and fly with the birds.G

Oregon Field Guide  "Avalanche Safety/ Fishing Quotas/ Music In Nature"  Students take a level-one avalanche course with regional expert Glenn Kessler. Musicians Deklun and Pace travel from Mount Hood to the coast with their electronic/trumpet musical improvisations to play for nature.G

Masterpiece Classic  "Downton Abbey - Part 1"  On the brink of the modern era, the inhabitants of Downton Abbey face a more immediate change - Lord Grantham loses his heir and his daughter Mary loses her fiance when the Titanic goes down. The family and its army of servants are thrown into turmoil. The new heir turns out to be Matthew, a handsome lawyer with novel ideas about country life. Part 1 of 4G

Masterpiece Classic  "Downton Abbey - Part 2"  Lord Grantham's oldest daughter Mary entertains three suitors, including a Turkish diplomat whose boldness leads to a surprising event. Downstairs, the shocking former life of Carson, the butler, is unmasked, and Bates risks his health to remain a valet. Part 2 of 4G

11:00 pm 
New Tricks  "Nine Lives"  An elderly woman leaves her estate to her beloved cats but when the last of her feline beneficiaries dies, there are still unanswered questions about her death. There also is no shortage of people laying claim to the remains of the estate. The team decides to reopen the investigation into the woman's death.G
