Ciao Italia  "White Asparagus/Asparagi Bianchi"  Mary Ann takes a good, long look at this elegant white vegetable before creating a spring-fresh Cream of Asparagus Soup, a crisp White Asparagus Salad, and an Italian favorite, Asparagus, Bassano del Grappo-style, topped with a rich, buttery egg sauce. Coastal Cooking with John Shields  "California Coastal"  Visit the Monterey Bay Aquarium as special guests Susan Feniger & Mary Sue Milliken and prepare their Minted Calamari Salad. John then makes a Big Sur Fennel and Roasted Beet Salad with Walnuts and Gorgonzola Vinaigrette and Seared Scallops with Orange, Fennel and Polenta. D

Hubert Keller: Secrets of a Chef  "Salads The French Way"  Chef Keller creates the kind of wonderful and enticing salads you will find in bistros and brasseries throughout France. Mixed Green Salad with Pear, Almonds and Cheese Filled Baked Potato; Spinach Salad with Poached Egg and Polenta Croutons.G

Ciao Italia  "Succulent Strawberries - Fragole Succulente"  Mary Ann's just in time for an early summer harvest of plump, juicy, succulent strawberries from Guy's Garden. After sampling more than a few, she heads nella cucina to prepare an eye-popping-beautiful Strawberry Tart, and Arugola Spinach and Strawberry Salad. Then she delivers the surprise of all surprises, a creamy smooth Strawberry Risotto. D

Habitable Planet, The  "Oceans"  Ocean systems operate on a range of scales, from massive systems such as El NiƱo that affects weather across the globe to tiny photosynthetic organisms near the ocean surface that take in large amounts of carbon dioxide. This program looks at how ocean systems regulate themselves and thus help maintain the planet's habitability.G

11:30 pm 
Habitable Planet, The  "Ecosystems"  Scientists from the Smithsonian Center for Tropical Research document the astounding abundance of diversity in tropical rainforests to discover why so many species coexist that are competing for the same resources. In North America, the Yellowstone Wolf Reintroduction project explores why removing just one species dramatically changed the distribution of plants and animals up and down the food web. D
