Cast members include the book's Nobel-prize winning author, Orhan Pamuk, and its English translator, Erdag Goknar. D

Invitation to World Literature  "Odyssey"  Odysseus must travel the known and unknown world before he can return home to his beloved island kingdom of Ithaca. What does this ancient story say to readers today? In this program, Odysseus's story is given ancient and modern historical and philosophical context, and illustrated with centuries of art. Featured are theater director Mary Zimmerman, actor-director Tim Blake-Nelson, and psychologist/author Jonathan Shay. D

Assessment In Math and Science: What's The Point?  "What'd I Get?"  Well-designed performance tasks give teachers the information necessary to evaluate the depth of students' understanding — but how can teachers determine nquality work? This workshop demonstrates how teachers can construct assessment tools for benchmarks of student understanding. The role of students in the construction of scoring tools and the process of assessment will be a primary focus. D

Rice also talks about his new show, From Here to Eternity, a musical adaptation of James Jones' World War II novel, and shares a few dry observations about Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber's new reality TV show in Britain, on which the public will pick "Jesus" for an upcoming UK stadium tour of Superstar (not to be confused with the critically celebrated version directed by Des McAnuff, playing in NYC now).
