Social Studies In Action: A Methodology Workshop, K-5  "Workshop 4. Applying Themes and Disciplines"  What do we teach? Working from the NCSS themes and standards, the onscreen teachers identify approaches to integrating disciplines while teaching social studies content. Classroom video segments illustrate effective strategies for teaching across the curriculum and provide an opportunity to reflect on teaching practices. Science In Focus: Force and Motion  "Making An Impact"  What would happen if an asteroid were to hit the surface of the earth? How large a crater would the impact create? In this workshop, the ideas of force and motion are introduced, as seventh-grade students drop balls to simulate asteroid impacts. By varying a ball's mass, the height from which it is dropped, or the material being struck, the students explore what factors affect the size of the crater. They also learn about data collection and the proper use of measurement units.G

The duo quickly run out of clay and turn to less conventional art supplies. Peanut butter proves too sticky and shaving cream too drippy, so George and Allie use mud to finish their masterpiece. D

Cat in the Hat Knows A Lot About That!  "Help with Kelp/Treetop Tom"  Help With Kelp - It's Fish's birthday and Nick and Sally want to get him a special present, but who can they ask for ideas? Cat's friend Gary the Garibaldi fish might have an idea! Off to the Briny Blue Sea where they meet a variety of creatures in a kelp forest who use the kelp for both food and protection. Back at home they make a picture of the kelp forest for Fish. It's the best present he could ever hope for! Treetop Tom - Nick and Sally are playing when their ball gets caught up high in the branches of a tree. D

Super Why!  "Webby In Bathland"  Red is practicing her soccer moves and kicking up dirt, when Grandma tells her it's time for lunch. Red gives her hands a quick rinse and gets ready to chow down, but Grandma says her hands aren't clean. The super readers zoom into the story Webby in Bathland and help a brave little penguin save his beloved town from the evil Squirmy Germies who are fighting down and dirty! Red finds out it takes more than water to wash away germs Educational Objectives: To learn about good hygiene. D

Dinosaur Train  "Dry Times at Pteranodon Terrace/Big Misty Sea Fishing Contest"  When the weather has been extremely dry for several weeks, all the water holes at Pteranodon Terrace dry up. The Lambeosaurus family decides to move away in search of water, which upsets the kids. Dad and Mom decide to take the kids to the Big Pond on a camping trip, where they will wait out the drought and return home when it rains again. D

Sesame Street  "Afraid of the Bark"  Elmo and Zoe are playing a game with Zoe's pet rock, Rocco. When it's Elmo's turn to roll Rocco, he rolls him all the way to Barkley the dog, who picks him up and plays with him in his mouth. Bob gives Rocco back to Zoe and explains that Barkley just thought they were playing fetch. D

Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood  "Daniel Gets Mad/Katerina Gets Mad"  Daniel Gets Mad - Daniel Tiger and Prince Wednesday are looking forward to playing at the beach. Then it starts to rain and Mom Tiger says they can't go outside, which makes them very mad. After Mom Tiger helps the boys deal with their mad feelings and they're calm, they come up with a grr-ific plan to make a beach - indoors! Katerina Gets Mad - It's New Instrument Day at Music Man Stan's Music Shop. D

Sid The Science Kid  "Discovering Darkness"  On an early morning, Sid wakes up while it's still dark outside. Sid and his friends investigate and observe what happens when a light source is completely blocked--creating darkness. It turns out everything stays the same in the dark, because darkness is just the absence of light. D

WordWorld  "Shark's First Day of School/Shark's First Loose Tooth"  Shark's First Day of School - It's the first day of school for the youngest WordFriends, but Shark is afraid to go. With the help of his good buddy Duck, and some gentle encouragement from their teacher Cat, Shark's fear turns to confidence, and by day's end he's at the head of the class. Shark's First Loose Tooth - When Shark loses his first baby tooth at a sleepover party with Duck, he's got to get to sleep fast so the tooth fairy can come and leave him a present. D

Caillou  "Step By Step!"  When Leo forgets his brand new toy dinosaur in the park, Daddy and Caillou go looking for it, with no success. When the washing machine needs fixing, Caillou ends up helping Bob the repairman. Inspired, Caillou helps Dad hammer a nail and glue the leg onto a wobbly stool too! Caillou accompanies Grandma to the Senior's residence where he finds out 'driving' the meal cart is more fun than driving his toy truck. D

Barney & Friends  "The Good Egg: Kenya"  When the kids find a mysterious, colorful egg in the park, Barney takes them on a trip to Kenya to try to find out what kind of animal could have laid the egg. Thomas & Friends  "Being Useful"  Kevin the Steamie - Kevin decides that he wants to be able to shunt like a Steamie so he can join in a game of Bish, Bash, Bosh with Thomas and Percy. The game is about shunting oil druMs. While Kevin is practicing his shunting, he causes chaos in the Steam Works. An oil drum bashes into Emily's wheels and causes a scratch, another drum bangs under Spencer's buffers, and then another drum bashes into Victor and he is covered in goo. D

Wild Kratts  "Quillber's Birthday Present"  It's Aviva's birthday, and Chris and Martin decide to collect shed porcupine quills to make a beautiful necklace as a gift. As they tag along with an African Crested Porcupine, they discover that animals have different ways and even some highly specialized features to defend themselves from predators. For example, porcupine quills are modified hairs, designed by nature into a deadly defense. D

Cyberchase  "Send in the Clones"  (topic: Multiplication) - Hacker's plan to clone himself so he can wreak havoc throughout cyberspace in many places at once, goes haywire when his newly invented Clonitron clones Delete instead of himself. But Hacker takes advantage of the mishap by sending the Delete clones to takeover the R-Fair City cybersite. To complicate matters, every time Delete sneezes - his clones multiply even more. D
