Growing a Greener World  "The Gift of Trees (Atlanta, GA, Mt. Airy, NC & Seattle, WA)"  Unless you're in the dessert, you don't have to look far to see trees. But have we really taken the time to appreciate all they have to offer? From sequestering carbon and releasing oxygen, conserving energy and reducing runoff, they also provide mulch and compost and offer a visual spectacle all throughout the year. You'll never look at a tree the same way again. D

4:00 pm
Moyers & Company  "Where Do Movies End and Politics Begin?"  How does pop culture not only reflect, but influence political culture? On this weekend's Moyers & Company (check local listings), historian and culture critic Neal Gabler joins Bill to discuss how representations of heroism in movies shape our expectations of a U.S. President, and how our real-world candidates are packaged into superficial, two-dimensional personas designed to appeal to both the electorate and the media. Also on the show, Bill talks with acclaimed poet and Poetry Magazine editor Chris Wiman about how finding true love and being diagnosed with a rare and incurable blood cancer reignited his religious passion as well as his creative expression. Oregon Field Guide  "Newberry Crater Geothermal"  A geothermal experiment outside Newberry Crater aims to get hot water out of a dry well with the hope of creating massive reservoirs two miles underground. The earth would heat the cold water injected into fissures in the rocks and pumps would bring the hot water back above ground for energy production.G
