Burt Wolf: Travels & Traditions  "The Great Rivers of Europe: Cologne to Zell"  Burt sails along the Rhine from Cologne to Rudesheim where he visits a museum dedicated to mechanical musical instruments. Along the way he passes the Lorelei Rock and explains the real story of how it got famous for luring ships into the rocks. Then he visits the city of Zell where the mayor and his band lead visitors in a parade through the streets of the town to a wine cellar underneath one of the government buildings. D

The Desert Speaks  "Hummingbirds: from Desert to Jungle"  Beginning in the Sonoran Desert and finishing in Ecuador's mountaintop preserve of Loma Alta, this episode examines the life of the hummingbird. Southern Arizona is the perfect place to start, as it lays along the migratory route for these "winged jewels" and makes for an ideal place to study birds that come from as far away as British Columbia and Alaska. Then host David Yetman climbs to the mountaintop preserve of Loma Alta to join scientists as they research "hummers" found in the fog forest. D

Sesame Street  "Observe, Record, Annoy"  Oscar is taking a computer class in Grouchology where the golden rule is to observe, record, and annoy. The first question that he must investigate is "What do worms like to squirm on best?" Professor Messla tells him he must set up an experiment where he observes (watches closely and carefully), records (writes down what he discovers), and annoy someone while he is doing it. Oscar heads over to Hooper's where he pours coffee grinds and olive oil all over Alan's nice clean counter. D

Dinosaur Train  "Paulie Pliosaurus/Elmer Visits The Desert"  Paulie Pliosaurus - The Pteranodon family takes the Dinosaur Train underwater to visit a marine reptile called Paulie Pliosaurus, a creature known as the "T. rex of the Ocean." Buddy and Paulie compare features and find that they actually have a lot in common. D

Super Why!  "The Goose and the Golden Eggs"  Red's friends would love to try some of her delicious apples, but Red wants to keep them all for herself! The Super Readers venture into the story of the Goose and the Golden Eggs to visit an old man who is as protective of his special eggs as Red is of her delicious fruit. This old man must learn his lesson, before his golden goose flies the coop! And Red needs to find out how share with her friends. Educational Objectives: To learn about giving to friends, sing the alphabet and identify the letters M-O-R-E. D

Cat in the Hat Knows A Lot About That!  "Jump!/Slow Down for Sloths"  Jump! - Nick and Sally can't jump high enough to get their balloon that is stuck up in a tree. Good thing The Cat knows some of the best jumpers ever! Off they go to Jumpalaroo to learn how to jump from nature's masters: grasshoppers, a kangaroo, and even a flea! Slow Down for Sloths - Nick and Sally are trying to draw a picture of a butterfly but can't get close enough to see it. Cat takes them to meet Onslow the Sloth, who teaches the kids that when you slow down, the world comes to you. D

This is especially evident in the southern tip of the Sonoran Desert on Mexico's mainland, near Alamos, Sonora. Travel with a group of bird watchers from the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum as they journey through coastal and forest habitats in search of some of the rarest birds in the region. D

Wild!  "Lost Whales"  For 150 years, southern right whales were hunted to the brink of extinction, but the discovery of a pod in the Southern Ocean has sparked fresh hope that their numbers are increasing. Intimate underwater footage unveils the behavior of these gentle giants and gives scientists a chance to predict and protect their future recovery. D

Inside Nature's Giants  "Sperm Whale"  Veterinary scientist Mark Evans and comparative anatomist Joy Reidenberg dissect a sperm whale's enormous organs to reveal the secrets of this 45-foot deep-sea giant that died stranded ashore on an English bay. Learn about the history of wild horses in Nevada and get an overview of the amazing Great Basin National Park. D
