The Desert Speaks  "Into The Swell: Utah's High Desert"  Utah's San Rafael Swell is one of the most remote and least-visited wonders of the desert southwest. Host David Yetman and his brother, Geologist Dick Yetman, camp out and explore the geology and vegetation of this intimidating stretch of desert. They also trek through Utah's Little Grand Canyon to see the pictographs and petroglyphs that were created thousands of years ago. D

Ciao Italia  "Sicilian Pizza/Sfincione"  You can't travel to Sicily without enjoying its trademark flatbread treat, Sfingione. But if you can't be there in body, be there in spirit when Mary Ann shows you an easy way to prepare this doughy treat studded with sardines, chunks of Scamorza cheese, spicy tomato sauce, topped with bread crumbs and baked in the oven. Joining it there is a Pizza with Artichoke Hearts and Salted Ricotta Cheese. D

Taste of History  "James Monroe"  Our 5th President, James Monroe, was taught law by his close friend and neighbor Thomas Jefferson. We learn about the Monroe Doctrine, and Chef Staib cooks at Monroe's Ash Lawn estate, preparing Fried Lake Perch and Kohlrabi in his honor. D

Simply Ming  "On The Road In San Antonio with Chef Elizabeth Kossick"  San Antonio is home to one of the country's leading culinary schools - the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) where Ming teams up with the CIA's own Chef Elizabeth Kossick. Working in their unique Latin Kitchen, Ming and Elizabeth use ingredients fresh from Elizabeth's extensive pepper garden. The focus of the dishes will be Peruvian with Ming adding his own personal twist. D

Martha Stewart's Cooking School  "Pan Searing"  In this episode, Martha demonstrates how to pan sear, a technique that produces consistently satisfying - and quick - meats and fish. Pan searing involves browning food quickly over high heat so it develops a nice crust and locks in the flavor and juiciness. Martha shares her technique for pan-seared scallops with lemon-caper sauce and offers recipes for crisp-skinned salmon filet, pan-seared steak with mustard-cream sauce and Muscovy duck breasts with port-wine reduction. D

Austin City Limits  "The Civil Wars/Punch Brothers"  A program of new American acoustic music begins with The Civil Wars playing tunes from their Grammy-winning album Barton Hollow. Then Punch Brothers showcase their latest recording Who's Feeling Young Now?.G

Sesame Street  "Rocco's Playdate"  Elmo and Zoe have an arts and crafts play date, but Rocco, Zoe's pet rock, is upset that he doesn't have his own play date. Elmo volunteers to find a friend who is round for Rocco and brings in a balloon. But Rocco wants a friend with a face and hair. D

12:00 pm 
Dinosaur Train  "Dinosaur Train Submarine: A Sea Turtle Tale/Rocket Train"  Our Pteranodon family is on the beach watching small eggs hatch and baby Archelon turtles emerge, and start to swim away. Our family and Mr. Conductor get into the Dinosaur Train Submarine and follow the baby Archelons who discover their own facts of nature - that their mother doesn't stay with them after they're born, and that they will grow up to be giant-sized sea turtles. Tiny and Buddy find out that a newer train will be riding the same tracks as the Dinosaur Train. D

Super Why!  "Molly's Dance Show"  The curtain rises on Princess Pea's dance recital but she's too scared to come out of the wings! Super Why and his friends head into the story Molly's Dance Show to meet a ballerina doll with similar stage fright. When Molly's dreams of performing come true, thanks to a fairy princess and some magic slippers, Princess Presto wonders what it will take for her to have confidence, too. Educational Objectives: To learn about self-confidence. D

Cat in the Hat Knows A Lot About That!  "A Long Winter's Nap/The Tree Doctor"  A Long Winter's Nap - Sally and Nick are so excited to go ice skating tomorrow, that they can't fall asleep! Cat's friend Boris the bear can help! Off they go to the Gleep-sneep Woods to learn how Boris gets ready to take his long winter's nap. Back at home, Nick and Sally follow Boris' advice, and follow their own bedtime routine to get ready for bed. With the help of a bedtime story from Cat, they quickly fall asleep. D

Wild Kratts  "The Blue and the Gray"  Martin and Chris are absorbed in a hilarious competition to discover who is the best acorn planter, blue jays or gray squirrels, when a strange Creature Power Suit malfunction transforms Martin into an acorn and grows him into an Oak tree! Chris activates the squirrel powers of his Creature Power Suit, but gets waylaid by a bobcat and goshawk, and the Aviva, Koki, and Jimmy can't find them. It'll take some animal-loving Wild Kratts kids to get them out of this mess. D

Sara's Weeknight Meals  "Burgers and Fries"  America's favorite food just gets better as Sara pursues the ultimate burger. First, a trip to the butcher for a lesson on the best grind of meat, which Sara uses in her Spanish Burgers. Sara takes a side trip to taste triple beef tallow cooked French fries at Philly's Dandelion Restaurant. D

Rick Steves' Europe  "Florence: Heart of the Renaissance"  Rick explores the city that is the home of the Renaissance and birthplace of the modern world, taking in works of art and architecture before climbing the dome that kicked off the cultural movement. Part 1 of 2G

The Thin Blue Line  "Alternative Culture"  Rick finds evidence of the proud Norwegian spirit in the country's capital - from Viking ships to a sleek new opera house, from World War II tales of terrorism to the constant festival at the thriving harbor. He takes in major art pieces and sails with friends in a fjord.G
