Filmmaker George Sibley reviews the life of fur trader, surveyor and explorer David Thompson, who trekked from the Hudson Bay to the Pacific Ocean, on the bicentennial celebration of his exploration. For 28 years, Thompson traversed the Northwest making maps that were unsurpassed for 100 years. His journals are some of the earliest descriptions of what is now British Columbia and parts of Montana, Idaho and Washington state and where he opened the first trading posts between 1807 and 1812. The film features original music and interviews with historians and archivists.G
