Students interact with a talking puppet or are contestants in the Word Wall Game Show. Ms. Evans balances skill development - phonemic awareness, phonics, and sight word identification - with authentic reading and writing tasks to encourage a love of learning. D

They take attendance, help each other discover the motivation of a character in a text, and make decisions about when they need support in reading. D

Kufta are yummy and creative little meatballs, and very easy to assemble, when you make them in a tray or casserole like we're doing today, they're called Sini Kufta. D

Ciao Italia  "$20.00 Dinner/Venti Dollari Per La Cena"  Mary Ann shows you just how far 20 dollars can go when you're creative about what you're preparing for dinner, starting off with a creamy Farfalle with Gorgonzola Sauce. Second course? Oven-roasted Pork Loin with Apples, followed by an fresh mixed salad, and to polish off this low-cost, high-taste meal, ice-cold, orange-flavored Granita. D

We venture into composer Eric Satie's eccentric world and feast on the finest of Normandy cuisine. After pondering sacrifice and celebrating freedom on the D-Day beaches, we hike with pilgrims to the enchanted island abbey of Mont St. Michel.G

This Old House  "Barrington Project, Part 9 of 10"  Builder Andy Tiplady sets 4"x4" glass tile in the kitchen using a light green grout (mixed with a latex additive) as the adhesive to set the tile and give a depth of color to the backsplash that thinset would not allow. Outside, the new insulated steel garage door is up; inside, host Kevin O'Connor works with Andy to install a garage storage system from the home center to keep the space organized. At the front deck, carpenter Chris Aguiar finishes up the cable railing system. D

Professor Maier looks at the creation of the Constitution of the United States. The Republic survives a series of threats to its union, and the program ends with the deaths of John Adams and Thomas Jefferson on the Fourth of July, 1826. D

Biography of America, A  "Westward Expansion"  At the dawn of the nineteenth century, the size of the United States doubles with the Louisiana Purchase. The Appalachians are no longer the barrier to American migration west; the Mississippi River becomes the country's central artery; and Jefferson's vision of an Empire of Liberty begins to take shape. American historian Stephen Ambrose joins Professors Maier and Miller in examining the consequences of the Louisiana Purchase -- for the North, the South, and the history of the country. D
