Smart Travels - Europe with Rudy Maxa  "France's Normandy"  From a dramatic, historic coast to rural pastures, this sweet section of France abounds with apple orchards, enchanting villages, stunning abbeys and sparkling seaports. We base in the lovely seaside town Honfleur. At Giverny, and in the museums in Rouen and Honfleur, we discover the birth of Impressionism. D

The Desert Speaks  "Beyond The Asphalt Part 1"  Just off the highway there are a plethora of adventures awaiting the exploratory traveler. Host David Yetman heads west of Tucson to visit some of these undiscovered places. After visiting the largest dune field in the United States, we head to Yuma for a hot air balloon ride and a walk through "the hell-hole of Arizona," the Arizona Territorial Prison. D

Taste of History  "Philadelphia Falls"  The Battle of Germantown was fought at The Cliveden Estate, once home to Benjamin Chew, former Chief Justice of Pennsylvania. The British victory here enabled their continued occupation of Philadelphia. Chef Walter talks with a surviving member of the Chew family and he prepares Potato Leek Soup, Roasted Leg of Lamb and Cardoon au Fromage. D

Simply Ming  "Creme Anglaise with Guest Duff Goldman"  This week on Simply Ming, Host Ming Tsai is joined by pastry chef extraordinaire - Duff Goldman. Together they show us how to use Crè me Anglaise - a key ingredient in every pastry chef's arsenal, and create two delicious desserts: Old School Chocolate Souffle with Creme Anglaise and Vanilla Frozen Custard with Flambeed Berries. Dinosaur Train  "The Old Spinosaurus & The Sea/A Spiky Tail Tale"  The Old Spinosaurus & the Sea - Dad takes the kids on the Dinosaur Train to fish in a new place, where they meet a huge, grumpy old dinosaur, called a Spinosaurus, that doesn't want the kids in his Sea. Eventually the kids befriend him, and they teach each other their own unique way to catch fish. A Spiky Tail Tale - Buddy and Tiny help settle an argument between Morris Stegosaurus and Alvin Allosaurus, two very big dinosaurs - one with a very spiky tail, the other with a mouthful of sharp teeth. D

Super Why!  "The Elves and the Shoemaker"  Whyatt has a secret admirer! The Super Readers visit the Elves and the Shoemaker and discover that the Shoemaker is just as curious about his own secret friends! The Super Readers help the Shoemaker write a note of his own, and Whyatt uncovers his mysterious admirer. Educational Objectives: To learn about making friends, explore the alphabet and rhyme with UN words. Kids will find that the power to read can change the story. D

Cat in the Hat Knows A Lot About That!  "A Plan for Sand/Whale Music"  A Plan for Sand - Nick and Sally are playing in their sandbox, but there's not enough room for them to build their castles. The Cat arrives to take them to the biggest sandbox they'll ever see! In the desert, they meet Carmela the Camel who teaches them about how camels are adapted to live in the dry, sandy climate. Whale Music - Nick and Sally have made a song to sing to their moms, but they can't get the ending quite right. D

Wild Kratts  "Platypus Cafe"  While kayaking in Australia, Martin and Chris encounter one of the world's most unusual creatures, a platypus mother with her eggs. But unscrupulous endangered animal chef, Gourmand, plans on making the platypus eggs his next delicacy. The Wild Kratts team must use the special "sixth sense" of the platypus to save the eggs. D

Sara's Weeknight Meals  "Indian Comfort Food with Floyd Cardoz"  Newly crowned "Top Chef Masters" winner Floyd Cardoz joins Sara to cook the food he grew up with in India. First up is Wild Striped Bass Curry swimming in coconut and mild spices. Chicken Pilaf is simple but satisfying with a gingery yogurt sauce. D

Rick Steves' Europe  "Iran's Historic Capitals"  Rick explores three former capitals: Persepolis and its monuments; Shiraz with tombs of nationally loved poets; and Esfahan with its extraordinary mosques.G

Mormon Tabernacle Choir Presents The Joy of Song with Katherine Jenkins   Recorded in July 2012 in Salt Lake City during the 2012 Pioneer Day Commemoration Concert, this one-hour musical special features the talents of the 360-member Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Welsh classical and crossover artist Katherine Jenkins. Jenkins performs a varied repertoire of songs, including "I Could Have Danced All Night," "La Vie En Rose, " and a powerful rendition of the Welsh patriotic hymn "Cymru Fach."G
