In each location, he witnesses traditional customs and religion meshing with the new and modern. He explores the integration of Western sensibility with Eastern aesthetic, and meets people who continue to seek a civilized harmony with the natural world.G

Lidia's Kitchen  "Sweet and Savory"  It's all about the balance today as Lidia pairs some unexpected ingredients that result in the best of flavors. She starts the meal with her prosciutto and fig bruschetta: grilled bread topped with a salty sweet combination of prosciutto and fig jam; spaghetti with fennel and bitter greens: spaghetti tossed with fennel, escarole and a splash of balsamic; chocolate anise biscotti: the "twice cooked" Italian cookie made with chocolate and anise. Then, equipment expert Adam Ried reveals his top picks for water bottles. Next, tasting expert Jack Bishop challenges host Christopher Kimball to a tasting of hard cider. D

Simply Ming  "Michael Scelfo"  Everyone's favorite party dish gets a new twist! Michael Scelfo, owner and chef of Alden & Harlow, named one of the best new restaurants by Bon Appetit, joins Ming to make three game-changing hummus dishes. Using butternut squash, curry and edamame, they're creating dishes that are delicious and healthy, this week on Simply Ming!. D

BBQ with Franklin  "The Pits"  Aaron takes a deep-dive into the realm of BBQ pits, as personal as they are functional. Explore different types of smokers from those at the roots of Texas BBQ to the kinds bought in stores. Aaron builds a smoker out of a 250 gallon propane tank. D

DayTripper  "Round Rock, Tx"  Chet heads to the "Sports Capital of Texas." He eats a Texas-sized donut, takes a beekeeping class from Round Rock Honey, and then explores the history of town on Hairy Man Road and Main Street, where outlaw Sam Bass faced his final shootout. He finishes up the day cheering for the home AAA baseball team, the Round Rock Express. D
