Baumann explores this Desert oasis in southern California, renowned for it's sublime energy, and beautiful landscapes. Interviews include interpretive ranger Sarah Hinton, explaining the evolution of the parks botany; Climber Eric Foltz and his colleagues as he takes us up one of the sandstone formations; and Joe Zarki, ranger and historian, details the human history of the region. Lidia's Italy In America  "California: Pesto Pronto!"  On her trip to the Golden State, Lidia meets with Brady Whitlow, president of Corto Olive, to talk about their methods of producing Italian-style olive oil in California. Next, Lidia visits one of the longest-standing wine making families in Sonoma County, the Seghesio family, at their vineyards. Joe joins Lidia in the kitchen to give his take on how to use pesto in two easy recipes: Pesto Salmon BLT and Pesto Chicken Salad. D

Conquistadors with Michael Wood  "The Conquest of the Incas"  Six years after the fall of Mexico, the conquistador Francisco Pizarro, exploring south of the equator, uncovers another civilization unknown to the European world: the empire of the Incas, which extended 3,000 miles from Ecuador to Chile. Michael Wood recounts Pizarro's daring march into Peru with fewer than 200 men and tells the almost incredible tale of his capture of the Inca Atuahuallpa and his promise to ransom himself with a roomful of gold. Traveling across the Peruvian desert along ancient Inca roads, Wood climbs the Andes with a train of llamas, continues to the ancient city of Cuzco, the Incas' "navel of the earth," where massive Inca buildings still stand, and to the stupendous Sacred Valley ruins, including Macchu Picchu. Cat in the Hat Knows A Lot About That!  "Flower Power/Snowman's Land"  Flower Power - Sally's mom has a cold, so Sally wants to pick her some colorful flowers to make her feel better. The Cat in the Hat takes Nick and Sally to the forest of Flora-Fah-Zoom where they meet three different creatures that all depend on flowers to live. Sally decides to make her mother a picture of their adventure in Flora-Fah-Zoom instead of picking a flower that animals need in order to survive. D

Zoboomafoo  "Bzzz"  Animal Junction goes buggy, and Zoboo, Chris and Martin start to think that these tiny critters are nature's little superstars. Insects and spiders are amazing athletes: quick-leaping grasshoppers, far-flying butterflies, heavily armored beetles and plenty more.G
